About
Noonchi Soft Play Dough is an environmentally friendly soft play dough.
The modelling compound and its ingredients do not pose a danger even to the youngest consumers, and, importantly, do not harm the environment.
The product is water soluble and compostable.

Noonchi, sometimes nunchi (눈치), is a Korean concept signifying the subtle art and ability to listen and gauge others' moods. It first appears in the 17th century as nunch'ŭi (眼勢 in hanja), meaning "eye force/power". In Western culture, nunchi could be described as the concept of emotional intelligence.

Production and ingredient list
Noonchi dough is handcrafted in small batches without any type of automation.

We don’t mess with the nature, because nature made it right. We reject unnecessary chemicals. Ingredients are carefully checked and inspected. The composition includes: wheat flour, sea salt, organic cream of tartar, corn starch, bio baking powder, vanillin, food glycerin, vegetable oil and eco-friendly cosmetic ingredients such as bentonite clay and coconut oil triglycerides.

Some brands of playdough are made with borax. The formula categorically excludes borax, sulfates, polyethene glycols, mineral and palm oils, and fillers such as glass, plastic and ceramic microspheres and polymers.

THE PRODUCT CONTAINS ALLERGENS: GLUTEN, VANILLIN.

What is the exact shelf life
of a cup
of Noonchi dough?

We would say the product is everlasting, but what exactly does “forever” mean? :) Noonchi completed the development of its ideal play dough recipe in March 2023, and all of the samples created then still look and smell good, and are still soft to the touch.

The shelf life of the dough from the moment of opening is 6 months, subject to storage rules. We do not recommend extending the product’s life by refrigerating it, since cold changes the dough’s properties, making it hard and crumbly.

In developing the product, we managed to avoid categories of ingredients such as sulfates, polyethene glycols, mineral and palm oils. As a result, two cups of the identical product may differ slightly in colour, texture, aroma and drying speed. All these variations are due to the inherent instability of natural ingredients.

Storage conditions
We recommend washing your hands before and after playing.  Store the dough in a tightly closed cup to keep the dough fresh and clean for a long time.

The convenient screw lid can be easily opened and closed by the child. The screw lid ensures hermetically sealed storage, so the modelling mass remains fresh for a long time after the first opening.

Is it possible to make figures and bake them in the oven?

The mass is not intended for drying figurines, crafts or toys. When left to dry completely in the air, the dough develops salt crystals,  which is unsurprising, given its 11-13% salt content. However, it takes a lot of time to dry completely and irreversibly. If you accidentally leave the cup of modelling dough open overnight – no problem.

How to refresh dried dough
Simply pour a glass of water (200g) over a 100g ball, holding it over the sink
Knead it thoroughly. The dough may be slightly sticky at this stage.
Place in a cup, screw the lid on and leave for 5-6 hours.
The mass will become fresh, as if it was new, and ready for use again.

Additionally
In lighter shades (currently yellow, pink, white and green) you may notice small black dots. Most of these originate from sea salt, some from flour, and some from bentonite clay. These are mineral impurities and insoluble particles.

Packaging
Creating a clean ingredient composition and minimising the use of plastic were key considerations in the development of our product and brand.

The packaging we use is either reusable or recyclable, or both.

The packaging of our parcels and goods reflects our ethical and considerate approach towards nature and the environment. We ship all items in bubble-free, recycled cardboard boxes. All packaging materials are either compostable or recyclable.

The cups for the dough are made from food-grade plastic. After the expiration date of the dough, they can serve you perfectly in daily life. They are suitable for storing food in the refrigerator, packing lunch for your children, or sharing creams with your girlfriends. However, as with any other plastic, we recommend keeping the cups away from direct sunlight, microwaves, ovens, and dishwashers to prevent the release of substances like bisphenol into the food you will later place in the cup.

Children's safety
and health
Noonchi play dough is absolutely safe for handling,  applying to the skin, inhaling its aroma and licking, but no, it is not intended for consumption as food.

In the recipe, we use between 11 and 13% of sea salt and 4% cream of tartar, or kaliumbitartrate (please do not confuse it with the cheaper and synthetic monotartrate). This concentration of salts and acids can cause indigestion in children who eat a large amount of mass (from 500g), and it may lead to dehydration in animals. If a child does swallow a piece, there is no reason to worry—simply have them drink a glass of water. The dough will naturally exit the body of a child or an animal thanks to clay in its composition, which is a natural sorbent. For the same reason, it is not recommended for use by children who have cuts or problematic skin on their hands, as the salt and acids may irritate their sensitive skin.

The Noonchi brand was created by an ordinary mom of a toddler, who licked play dough from the supermarket. A mother who was tired of discarding play dough which dried out in just one day. Through experiments in her home kitchen, she unravelled the secret of the original, world-famous soft play dough and replaced all the dubious ingredients with safe plant-based components. She also devised a method to make the play dough long-lasting.,
